Service Description
- Before this transaction can be completed you must have requested the research on the abandoned vehicle. When a vehicle has been abandoned on your property for over 6 months you can file for ownership of the abandoned vehicle. To do so you would need to request research (a separate transaction) and then send out a letter to the registered owner. If the vehicle is unclaimed 30 days after the letter is sent to the registered owner you can bring the vehicle for an inspection and the following documents to your appointment: - *Government issued ID or Drivers License *Copy of letter sent to owner *Return receipt or letter returned unopened as undeliverable, refused or unclaimed *If registering, current insurance meeting AS 28.22.011 and AS 28.10.011 requirements and verifiable in DMV's system or dated within the last 30 days *Completed and notarized Claim Of Ownership / Involuntary Lien *Completed Vehicle Transaction Application - For this transaction you must email in your documents for us to verify you have everything necessary to process. If you arrive to your appointment and do not have all documents required you will still be charged fees. Please arrive at the office 10 minutes prior to your appointment time. To expedite the transaction please bring all requested documents and if possible bring the paperwork already filled out. This is a single transaction appointment, if you have other transactions that need to be processed please schedule the appropriate appointments separately. - If the vehicle previously had permanent Z or P tags or specialty plates you will need to bring the plates in for your transaction so they can be surrendered. Alaska law requires insurance to be on any vehicles for road use and the DMV is now requiring us to verify vehicles are insured as long as they are registered for any transaction. Please have verifiable insurance on the vehicle before your appointment.
Cancellation Policy
To cancel or reschedule, you must do so at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled appoint time to avoid a potential rescheduling fee of $20.00.
